| Beach view--Yachatz, Oregon
A little inspiration please. This was the view from our hotel room at The Fireside Hotel in Yachatz, Oregon on a family vacation. Was my imagination on overload? You bet. The wild waves and ocean mists ebbed and flowed a world of ideas in my head.
While it is true that some days or locations do coax out the very best in a writer, our imaginations can function quite well in any setting. When asked what he did to get inspired to write, William Faulkner answered, "I get inspired to write every day at 9:00 am."
Now that's the mentality all writers need. Writing isn't something reserved for a rainy day or special location. Sure an extraordinary setting helps, but it is certainly not required to foment inspiration. A writer can write anywhere--even in a windowless room with just a desk and a chair for company. |
